The mother of a 31-year-old software engineer, who was allegedly attacked and killed by six members of his wife’s family following a marital dispute, recalled the horrific ordeal of having caught completely offguard, believing her relatives had come to her house for a peaceful visit.
The killer assault began as a minor household argument between Vinay and his wife, Rekha Gupta. Vinay’s sister alleged his wife frequently fought over minor issues and threatened the family. The couple had been married for three-and-a-half years. He is survived by his wife and two twin children who are just a couple of months old.
“Within just 10 minutes, she returned with six men from her family. She questioned how the relatives could reach the house in 10 minutes when they live around 30 minutes away.
Rekha called her relatives which included her two brothers, father, mother, sister-in-law and uncle to the house in preparation for the attack, according to Vinay Gupta’s family. She led them upstairs,” the sister said.
The police have detained four accused in the murder case. They are looking for a fifth accused, who is on the run. A forensic team has checked the crime scene and investigators are checking the exact sequence of events.
