Delhi Police have apprehended 31 individuals in connection with a sophisticated betting and gambling operation located in Mukundpur, Outer North Delhi. Among those arrested are the alleged mastermind behind the network, the owner of the premises, a software developer, and several financial handlers involved in the illicit activities. The operation’s scale and technology highlight the growing issue of illegal gambling in the region.
The Anti-Narcotics Squad of Outer North District Police conducted a raid on August 9 after receiving information about a gambling operation being run from a premises in Mukundpur.
The investigation later revealed that the operation was part of a larger software-based betting network rather than an isolated den. A case was registered at Bhalswa Dairy police station under the Delhi Public Gambling Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. They have been identified as Pramod Kumar, a data entry operator, Vipin Kumar Jain, a financial and fund handler, Khemchand alias Monu, a mediator and software deployer, and Rahul Dilwaliya, who allegedly developed the customised ‘Jantri Satta’ software used by the network.
The Anti-Narcotics Squad of Outer North District Police conducted a raid on August 9 after receiving information about a gambling operation being run from a premises in Mukundpur. Police said 22 people were found allegedly involved in gambling at the spot. During the raid, police recovered Rs 6.29 lakh in cash, 41 packs of playing cards, Jantri books, diaries, registers, 26 mobile phones and a whiteboard. On August 12, police arrested Ranjeet, who has been identified as the alleged mastermind and main operator, along with Ramesh Kumar, the owner of the premises where the gambling operation was being conducted. Further investigation led to the arrest of four more key members on August 18.
