The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) secured a decisive victory in the Delhi University students’ union elections held on Saturday. Yash Dabas was elected as the new President of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU). In a notable outcome, independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen won the Vice President position as the vote counting concluded the same day.
He had contested as an independent after being denied an NSUI ticket. In the presidential contest, ABVP’s Yash Dabas polled 24,576 votes, defeating NSUI’s Vijai Shankar Meena by a margin of 2,053 votes. Shokeen won the vice-president’s post with 30,615 votes.
