Tension gripped Andhra Pradesh’s Marikavalasa-Thimmapuram Master Plan Road in Visakhapatnam on Thursday after a group of around 20 young people clashed, prompting police intervention and the detention of 17 persons.

The fight was triggered after a dispute between two students near Chandrampalem School, according to the police.

Police Detain 17 Youths Following Violent Confrontation in Thimmapuram

Police have detained 17 out of 20 youths involved in a violent confrontation on Thimmapuram Road in Shivashakti Nagar. The incident escalated on Thursday night, with reports suggesting that some participants may have consumed alcohol prior to the altercation.

Authorities have registered cases against six individuals, including three adults and three minors. CI Balakrishna confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine each person’s role in the incident.

After receiving reports of a renewed confrontation, police arrived at the scene, prompting the youths to flee. Officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage and gathering statements to piece together the events leading up to the violence.

“Strict action will be taken against anyone involved in violence or attempts to disturb public order,” CI Balakrishna stated, urging young people to resolve disputes without resorting to violence. Additionally, police are assessing whether substance use contributed to the situation and if more individuals were involved.
