Tripura police filed a case against senior CPI-M leader and former chief minister Manik Sarkar

Tripura police filed a case against senior CPI-M leader and former chief minister Manik Sarkar for allegedly making ‘provocative’ statements during a political programme on August 10, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

Former CM Faces Legal Action for Provocative Remarks

Police have initiated an investigation into statements made by a former Chief Minister during a political event in Agartala on August 10. The former CM allegedly made provocative comments concerning both the central and state governments, according to the complainant.

On Sunday, a case was registered at the West Agartala police station under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The charges include section 192 for inciting a riot, section 353(1) for disseminating false information electronically, and section 61(1) for criminal conspiracy.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing.
