The Bihar Cabinet has approved new regulations that enable social media creators to monetize their videos featuring state government schemes and programs. This amendment to the Bihar Social Media and Other Online Media Rules, 2026, was one of 13 proposals discussed in a Cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday.
Bihar Cabinet Approves Payments for Social Media Creators Promoting Government Schemes
The Bihar Cabinet has approved new regulations allowing social media creators to earn up to Rs 1 lakh for each video promoting government schemes. Under these rules, creators who are empanelled and produce content on Bihar government initiatives can receive an additional Rs 10,000 for every one lakh views after 30 days, pending verification and other conditions.
The Information and Public Relations Department stated that a detailed notification regarding these amendments will be issued shortly. The new rules also include provisions for periodic checks on the follower counts of registered social media accounts.
Additionally, the Cabinet sanctioned a memorandum of understanding between the state Information Technology Department and Taiyo AI India Pvt Ltd to foster the development of an AI ecosystem in Bihar.
