Gurugram experienced heavy rainfall on Monday, resulting in significant waterlogging and traffic disruptions throughout the city. In response to the severe weather, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for heavy rainfall. As a precaution, local schools opted to dismiss students early to ensure their safety.
From its natural topography to drainage failures, several factors contribute to the city submerging every monsoon. Gurugram is located in a natural basin. When heavy rainfall hits, stormwater rushes rapidly down from the surrounding Aravalli hills and converges on the urban plains.
