Nineteen workers have been rescued so far. The rescue operation at an under-construction tunnel at Mayapur in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district continued through the night and into Friday morning, with three of the 22 workers still trapped.

A landslide has caused debris and water to flood approximately 1.5 kilometers of the Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydroelectric Project’s three-kilometer tunnel. District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar is overseeing the ongoing rescue and relief efforts at the site.
Kumar has instructed officials to utilize all available resources and technical support to locate and rescue the remaining workers trapped in the tunnel. The administration is also prioritizing medical treatment and necessary support for the injured individuals.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has prioritized the safe evacuation of workers trapped inside a tunnel following a recent incident. Despite severe weather conditions preventing his helicopter from landing at the site, Dhami has expressed his commitment to the rescue operation.
“The safe evacuation of every worker trapped inside the tunnel is the government’s top priority. All agencies involved in the operation have been directed to work on a war footing to rescue those still missing,” Dhami stated.
Rescue teams are currently mobilized and working diligently to locate and assist the missing individuals, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
