Union Health Minister JP Nadda is scheduled to meet with Delhi’s Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh and senior officials this Friday. The meeting aims to assess the current H1N1 situation in the national capital, ensuring that appropriate measures are in place to address any public health concerns.

Dengue, H1N1 and H3N2 cases reported

The increase is also being reported by hospitals in other cities. The meeting comes amid reports of a rise in swine flu cases in Delhi, with humid and fluctuating weather conditions raising concerns over the spread of seasonal respiratory infections. Most milder cases, however, continue to be managed on an outpatient basis, with symptomatic treatment and advice to isolate at home to prevent further transmission.

At SPARSH Hospital in Bengaluru, Dr Manohar K N, Lead Consultant, Internal Medicine and Diabetology, told ANI that doctors are seeing around five to six patients a day with flu-like symptoms, including sudden fever, cough and body pain. Around two to three of these patients are being admitted, he said. Dr Sunil Rana, Associate Director and Head of Internal Medicine (Unit III) at Asian Hospital, said his hospital is currently seeing dengue, swine flu and H3N2, another influenza A variant. Dr Manohar said mild cases can generally be managed on an outpatient basis with symptomatic treatment and self-isolation at home, while high-risk patients should be particularly cautious.

Nadda’s meeting will review the H1N1 situation in Delhi, including hospital preparedness, testing facilities, medicines and treatment availability. The Centre and Delhi government will also assess disease surveillance and steps to control the spread of the infection.
