What made the property even more special was that its house number matched her father’s birthday. “The house number was my father’s birthday. Getting her father to the apartment without making him suspicious was the biggest challenge. She and her sister took him out for lunch and kept him occupied before bringing him to the property. He walked in believing that his uncle had purchased the apartment. The revelation left him speechless and emotional. His reaction made her feel that all the effort had been worth it. “Dad could not believe it – he stood there in shock. He started crying and didn’t really stop. Not that day, not the next. For two or three days, every time he thought about it, he’d tear up again. He kept saying, ‘I don’t know what I did to deserve this. I don’t know what I did to deserve you, kids. I think Dad’s reaction was proof for me that it was all worth it. For most of my life, the giving only went one way. This time, I wanted it to be the one to give,” she concluded.
