US Open to Diplomatic Talks with Iran Amid UN General Assembly
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated during an NBC interview that the United States is willing to engage in diplomatic discussions with Iran at the upcoming UN General Assembly. He emphasized the need for the US to officially declare its intention to resolve the issue through diplomacy and establish a timeline for the process.
Rubio noted that while no meetings have been scheduled between the US and Iran, the US remains ‘open to something like that, especially if it has the prospects of leading to something positive.’ However, it has been confirmed that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will not meet with US President Donald Trump at the assembly.

However, the US state department will be providing a security detail to Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi while he is in New York for the meeting.
